Der Südsudan (, in amtlicher Langform (RoSS); ) ist ein Staat in Afrika. Er erlangte am 9. Juli 2011 die Unabhängigkeit vom Sudan; zuvor war das Gebiet von 1972 bis 1983 und erneut von 2005 bis 2011 eine autonome Region innerhalb des Sudans. Der Südsudan grenzt im Norden an den Sudan, im Osten an Äthiopien, im Südosten an Kenia, im Süden an Uganda, im Südwesten an die Demokratische Republik Kongo und im Westen an die Zentralafrikanische Republik.
